I'm glad that my experience resonates with yours, Sunanda. Two themes that have emerged for me in the process of writing the 2020 paper jump out from your brief description. One is a sense of mission from the volunteer HCWs, as well as aspiration. Mission because you say "contributing to a cause" as well as feeling obligation, and aspiration because of the choice made to connect with the formal team, associated with the possibility of salaried employment.
I hope I'm not wringing to much of my own meaning from your words!
