This video from our colleagues at Nigeria Health Watch describes how a mother and baby died because they trusted a prophesy from a religious leader rather than their midwife Pederick Esther... The midwife understood that the baby was too big for the pelvis and would likely need a caesarian section. The religious leader had no understanding or access to reliable information about childbirth and urged the mother to trust in God. Mother and baby died after a labour that lasted a full week.
