Overuse of healthcare services in LMICs (2)

7 November, 2022

Dear sir

Thank you for raising the issue. [ Loai Albarqouni, Australia: https://www.hifa.org/dgroups-rss/overuse-healthcare-services-lmics ]

Abundance, overprescribing, overuse or overdiagnosis all come to affordability. Big pharma is trying to sell as many and as much drugs as possible. That’s why one has never seen Big pharma going bankrupt. Why should they bankrupt as long as 'ignorance' is their biggest ally. There is a group of corrupted physicians who “sell” drugs on behalf of Big pharma. Pharmacies do not care as many of them in LMIC function as supermarkets. Those who can afford the prices of physicians are the same who can afford the most expensive drugs. Universal Health Coverage with ethics can solve the problem. Lack of ethics and information on what is required and what is extra are challenges to face.
