Register for meeting: 25th August - Rotterdam: Information Professionals Contributing to Open Science towards Climate Empowerment

4 July, 2023

Dear All,

IFLA Special Interest Group Evidence for Global and Disaster Health invites you to participate in our satellite meeting 'It's getting hot in here! Information Professionals Contributing to Open Science towards Climate Empowerment'.

We are honoured to announce our opening keynote speaker - Ellen Tise, IFLA President 2009-2011, and current Chair of IFLA Advisory Committee on Freedom of Access to Information and Freedom of Expression (FAIFE).

We are also delighted to have IFLA's Policy and Research Officer Claire McGuire, who coordinates the IFLA work on Libraries and Climate Empowerment.

To address the increasingly urgent need to tackle the complex and interconnected climate challenges we face (natural disasters, water shortages, lack of safe drinking-water, food crisis, starvation) and accelerate global progress, science needs to be disseminated beyond borders and paywalls.

Our IFLA satellite meeting will illuminate the contributions to Open Science from library and information professionals in different sectors and geographies. The format includes panel conversations and unconference sessions, as delegates develop practical ideas on what more can be done by our profession.

Do come and join us! Proposals to run interactive unconference sessions are welcome: Call for unconference sessions<https://www.eur.nl/en/library/ifla/overview-e4gdh/call-unconference-sess....

The full programme, and registration information, are available on the conference webpages<https://www.eur.nl/en/library/ifla/overview-e4gdh/>. Equitable pricing is offered to delegates from Research for Life eligible countries.

With best wishes, from,

Caroline
