Request to participate in a Virtual Global Health survey

16 October, 2020

Dear CHIFA members,

I am launching a survey project on how global health partnerships (pediatric or otherwise) might best pivot to virtual engagement during and after COVID-19, and I would be grateful if you would consider participating

or forwarding this information to your colleagues involved in health partnerships. Because there is so little in the literature about how to deal with the abrupt stop in our in-person work, we are hoping to generate

data that can guide us on how to continue to promote global collaborations in the virtual sphere. Surveys are anonymous, online, and available in English, Spanish and French; they will take between 7-10 minutes to

complete on average. We will be collecting survey responses until mid November 2015, and we will be distributing a preliminary study report to any respondent who would like to receive it. Further information about the project is below, and I would be happy to tell you more or answer questions. Thank you very much for your consideration - the links are here, and the full study invitation is below.

*Survey Invitation: Virtual Global Health Partnership Initiatives During the COVID-19 Pandemic*

*(Encuesta sobre iniciativas de asociación virtual de salud mundial durante la pandemia de COVID-19)*

*(Enquête sur les Initiatives Virtuelles de Partenariats pour la Santé Mondiale pendant l’épidémie de COVID-19)*

Are you the focal point at your institution or organization for a *global health partnership*? A *global health partnership* refers to any international and/or health partnership that bridges geographical distance

and/or resource levels to promote the health and wellbeing of people anywhere in the world. Partnerships may include headquarter or satellite sites of a single institution or represent individual organizations linked

by the partnership.

If so, we’d like to hear your valuable input. A group of researchers representing several global health consortiums and organizations (led by Dr. Lisa Umphrey at the Center for Global Health, Colorado School of Public Health, Colorado, USA) is inviting focal points for global health partnerships to take a short survey. The goal of this survey is to better understand existing global health partnerships; their preferences for

virtual activities during the COVID-19 pandemic; the potential barriers to those activities; and what factors may increase their chances for success.

Your answers to this survey will help the authors and participants guide their planning for virtual global health activities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and lay the groundwork for future best-practice discussions

globally.

The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. Your answers can be submitted anonymously, without anyone knowing your name or how you answered the questions. To provide anonymity to participants who may represent a single institution in one country, all data collected from the survey will be categorized and reported regionally with no identifying information.

Please note that you do not have to answer any question that you would not like to answer, and you can stop the survey at any time. The number of COMIRB, the Ethics Board that oversees this research is (303) 724-1055, in case you have any questions or concerns for them.

Please note: participants currently working in European Economic Area (EEA) are *not *eligible to participate in the study at this time.

Click the link below to take the online survey. Surveys will be available in English, French and Spanish:

*French*: https://redcap-uat.mcri.ac.ug/redcap/surveys/?s=L7FF3NP3MN

*Spanish*: https://redcap-uat.mcri.ac.ug/redcap/surveys/?s=LNJXXTDD74

If you would like to receive an early summary of preliminary data to help support your planning for virtual partnership activities in 2020-2021, you may provide your preferred email contact at the end of the survey, which will be stored in a secure database. If you change your mind and want your email removed from this database, contact lisa.umphrey@ucdenver.edu.

At the end of the survey, you will be asked if our study team can contact you in the future studies on global health partnerships. If you are open to being contacted, you will be asked to provide your preferred email contact, which will be stored in a secure database. If you change your mind and want your email removed from this database, contact lisa.umphrey@ucdenver.edu.

Thank you for your consideration. Please contact Dr. Lisa Umphrey by email (lisa.umphrey@ucdenver.edu) with any questions about this survey.
