RIP Barbara Kirsop, a great friend of science in the Global South (4)

2 February, 2022

Thank you Chris, for your kind words about Barbara Kirsop. I have had the good fortune of working with Barbara for the last three decades. She was my mentor, my guide, and above all, a dear friend. As you said, Chris, she was highly practical and results-oriented. Whenever I complained about anything not being done or being unfair, she always asked “what are you going to do about it?”

Some of you will remember some of Barbara’s postings on this list here over the years. She never waiver from her convictions. And unlike some of us who get impatience, Barbara was always willing to explain, over and over again, the benefits of open access to health information for all.

A few of us are planning a memorial (online) to pay tribute to Barbara’s life-long contributions. We will share the details here for those who would like to share their stories about Barbara.

With best wishes to all
