The Lancet: Spotlight on Universal Health Coverage, 12 December 2024

Further to the successful Lancet-HIFA Spotlight on Research for Health [ now available to watch on demand: https://hubs.li/Q020W2QL0 ], The Lancet is holding another event focused on Universal health caoverage.

Ensuring all populations globally have access to affordable, quality health care

'Universal health coverage is the concept that, regardless of their ability to pay, everyone should have the right to quality health care, when and where needed. Today, many countries do not have anything resembling universal health coverage. Over the decades, several Lancet Series have examined health and health systems around the world and Lancet Commissions have shown that having access to health care without ensuring good quality is plainly not enough.

'To drive progress, we call for...

- Governments to progressively measure their progress to advance the availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality of health care provided to their populations

- All sectors of society to recognise that health is not only the product of a well functioning health system—decisive political, economic, and social actions must be taken to protect and strengthen health'

I have registered (as an 'ordinary' participant' this time and not as a panellist) and will be making the case that "Universal access to reliable healthcare information is essential for universal health coverage". I look forward to 'see' you there.
