19 January, 2025

I am Dr. Arti Maria, MD DM (Neonatology), Professor of Neonatology and Deanat ABVIMS & Dr. RML Hospital, New Delhi. For over 25 years,I have been deepy committed to advancing neonatal care in India, leading groundbreaking initiatives such as Family-Centered Care(FCC)and Nurturing Care for small and sick newborns. I am writing to request an opportunity to present our pioneering work on the “Nurturing Beyond the Womb”, https://nurturing-care.org/nurturing-beyond-the-womb/ package at this prestigious forum. This comprehensive, human-centered, evidence-informed audio-visual (A-V)training package has been designed to equip healthcare professionals (HCPs)with the skills to deliver nurturing care to small and sick newborns(SSNBs),leveraging principles from FCC and the WHO Nurturing Care

Framework (NCF).

*Key Highlights of the Package:*

- Evidence-informed modules integrating developmentally supportive practices for small and sick newborns in neonatal care units that is notonly going to improve quality of care but also favorably impact outcomes of these high risk babies, enabling them to thrive and not just survive.

- Practical, actionable, and family-centered approaches to neonatal care.

- Comprehensive guidance for healthcare workers to adopt a human-centered care approach.

- Empowering families to ensure continuity of care for optimal outcomes.

This initiative is being rigorously piloted and evaluated across diverse settings in India to assess feasibility, acceptability, and scalability. Itholds significant potential to serve as a global model for improving the quality of care for small and sick newborns.

I humbly request your kind consideration to showcase this work at a global platform such as CHIFA or other esteemed international forums. Such a presentation would highlight India’s innovative contributions to neonatal health and foster collaborations for global adoption.I would be happy to provide further information or clarifications.

I also request that I may be allowed to reach out through this platform to make a research collaborative especially from LMICs with similar context and problems in newborn care such as ours.

Thank you for your valuable time and unwavering commitment to advancing neonatal care.

Warm regards,

Dr. Arti Maria
