New research from Iran published in ecancer identifies obstacles in the way of successful engagement with childhood cancer patients and their parents in low resource settings. The authors, Shirin Ahmadinia et al, found
significant obstacles including the dominance of a medical-only approach instead of a multidisciplinary approach to care, a shortage of psychosocial support, and the lack of an integrated system for providing information and printed material about the treatment journey.
