I have published six books, two of them in two languages, and two book chapters. All publishing companies have costs, to which authors’ royalties should be added. Therefore, asking for free access to online versions is illusory. Free access to scientific results is, of course, a major issue; however, the best way to obtain it is to put forward reasonable proposals. Some universities and science societies already offer free publishing. Perhaps governments, scientific and medical organizations, and major universities in the world could dedicate some resources to scientific open-access journals and books.
