Thanks Prof Liz Grant for your well crafted piece on ‘the shepherd and the sheep’. Having worked for over 15 years in a rural community in southwest Nigeria and now working on rotational basis in palliative medicine of NNUH Norwich, I can definitely relate with this narrative.
In all honesty, I did not see it in this light with the connection needed between those with life limiting illnesses and ‘home away from home’ concept. In reality, patients who established the connection were more at peace with their ‘transition’ and same for families and friends.
Thanks for this wonderful piece.
