Dear HIFA colleagues,

HIFA receives notification of WHO 'Week ahead for media' and we shall pass on selected items that are especially relevant to our mission. Here are two important items for the coming week:

World AIDS Day 2025

WHO joins partners and communities to mark World AIDS Day under the theme “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response.” Amidst funding challenges for the AIDS response, WHO is calling for global solidarity and investment in innovations to protect and empower communities most at risk. WHO's World Malaria Report 2025 provides the latest global and regional estimates on malaria cases, deaths, intervention coverage and financing. This year’s report places special emphasis on the growing threat of antimalarial drug resistance -- now one of the most acute risks to malaria control efforts in Africa and beyond.

A virtual press conference will take place under embargo at 15.00 CET/14.00 GMT on Tuesday, 02 December. A media advisory with additional information, including dial-in links, has been sent to the media.

Embargoed materials are available to journalists. Please send your request to mediainquiries@who.int with a copy to chriscadenk@who.int. Embargo lifts at 10.00 CET/09.00 GMT on Thursday, 4 December 2025.
