Antimicrobials: handle with care

United to preserve antimicrobials

Every year, World Antimicrobial Awareness Week aims to increase awareness of global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and to encourage best practices among the general public, health workers and policy makers to stop the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.

The slogan for 2020 is "Antimicrobials: handle with care" . The theme for the human health sector for WAAW 2020 is “United to preserve antimicrobials". See events happening in your region here: https://www.who.int/campaigns/world-antimicrobial-awareness-week/2020/ev...

New report: Learning from COVID-19 to Tackle Antibiotic Resistance

The unchecked growth of drug-resistant infections is a silent pandemic with long-term implications for global health. As the world reels from the impact of COVID-19, a new GARDP report explores how to apply the lessons we are learning to the fight against drug resistance. The report examines five early lessons of the COVID-19 pandemic and how these lessons can be applied to a successful long-term response to antibiotic resistance. https://gardp.org/news-resources/learning-covid19-antibiotic-resistance/
