World Breastfeeding Week 2020 - starts 1 August Advocacy on formula advertising(6)

4 August, 2020

Dear Massimo,

Many thanks for your latest message to CHIFA.

You said "Nestle' is perceived as Saint" - please can you say a bit more about this?

Nestle is well known in high-income countries to be a company that has repeatedly been in breech of The International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes, especially in low-income countries, with substantial morbidity and mortality.

It sounds like this perception is not reflected in many countries in Africa and Asia where you have worked? Has there been any comparative analysis of people's perceptions of Nestle across different countries?

Best wishes, Neil
