World Breastfeeding Week 2020 - starts 1 August Advocacy on formula advertising(8)

5 August, 2020

Dear Neil, possibly my english (poor) needs help. I was referring to Nestle' as 'saint' in order to underline the paradox/contradiction of being indignant about GMO and in the same time accepting the absurdity of animal milk given to human baby.

Formula milk is more and more available, in supermarkets, in shops. Urbanization is high. The future is that more mothers will "have no/little milk" and Nestle’ will sell more. In Afghanistan this phenomenon is in advanced stage: formula milk is prescribed (and sold!) by doctors. Mothers are victims of ignorance, they have no power to negotiate : I encountered babies with SAM(severe acute malnutrition) in the first six months of age, due to early abandon of breast milk. Deaths, malnutrition, diseases...all due to "no milk in my breasts". For a pediatrician is highly worrying.

African mothers are in danger, a 'poisoned apple' is offered to them, they must be protected/informed.

Thanks and greetings from Dodoma
