World Patient Safety Day (WPSD) 2024: Theme and Slogan (2) Personal medical record: health booklet

29 April, 2024

Dear Neil, long time has past, my opinion and proposal are the same as before: if you want to responsibilize the doctor, any health practitioner that takes action on your 'disease' (if any) you must oblige him to write in your health booklet all details of the medical contact occurred.

Health (or its absence) belongs to the patient, he has the right (!) to retain with him diagnosis and therapy applied to his condition.

After all doctor has made a diagnose in his mind (otherwise he's a charlatan), well further step is to communicate it in writings to patient.

What is so difficult?

Many advantages from this approach:

- more responsibility from doctors.

- more adherence to guidelines, clinical-therapeutical guidelines.

- less magic power exerted through poor quality leaflets where few drugs are written (in criptic calligraphy). Medicine is not magic, health magicians were possible centuries ago, not today.

- more medicine (M) and less/nihil personalism.

Health booklet(HB), please write in my booklet what you suspected and prescribed. Plus your signature and stamp.

Thanks.

('thanks' is optional)
