HIFA joins ICM, CNMF and WaterAid in campaign for quality healthcare for all through water, sanitation and hygiene in all health facilities

17 October, 2016

We are delighted to announce that HIFA have joined the International Confederation of Midwives, Commonwealth Nurses & Midwives Federation and WaterAid in campaigning for quality healthcare for all through water, sanitation and hygiene in all health facilities.

You can find out more about the Healthy Start campaign here

The first big push of the campaign is taking place on Saturday, 15 October to mark Global Handwashing Day. Please join with us in supporting the campaign online using this social media messaging

We encourage you all to sign and share the petition to health ministers around the world, calling for urgent action to improve the provision of clean water, adequate sanitation and good hygiene in all health facilities everywhere, which is fundamental to achieving quality healthcare for all and Universal Health Coverage by 2030.

In the coming days, health professionals are organising events to discuss these issues with policy makers in several countries, including Ghana, Madagascar, Nigeria and Zambia. We encourage you to organise events in your own country in the coming months that call for change. You can find some guidance and ideas for organising events here.

Please feel free to contact healthystart@wateraid.org with ideas or questions.

Best wishes,

Dr Neil Pakenham-Walsh, HIFA Coordinator
