Dear Dr. Uzodinma Adirieje,

Dear HIFA colleagues,

Thank you for sharing the announcement of the Maiden ‘Life & Health’ Symposium. This is a timely and highly relevant initiative that thoughtfully integrates global health, climate resilience, and the Sustainable Development Goals within the framework of Africa Agenda 2030.

I appreciate the symposium’s strong emphasis on the interconnectedness of health, climate change, and sustainable development, particularly its focus on climate-sensitive diseases, Universal Health Coverage, and community and youth engagement. These themes resonate strongly with challenges faced across many low- and middle-income settings, including in South Asia, where climate change increasingly influences disease burden, health inequities, and access to care.

From my perspective as a researcher working in cancer biology, salivomics, and digital health, I find the symposium’s action-oriented and cross-sectoral approach especially valuable. Integrating evidence-based research, low-cost diagnostics, and digital health innovations into climate-resilient health systems is critical to advancing equitable healthcare delivery and achieving SDG targets.

I commend Afrihealth Optonet Association for creating a multi-stakeholder platform that bridges science, policy, and practice, while amplifying local and emerging voices. I look forward to following the ‘Life & Health’ Dialogue Series and exploring opportunities for learning, collaboration, and shared advocacy across regions.

Wishing the symposium every success and congratulating AHOA on this important milestone.

With warm regards,

Dr. Nitya Krishnasamy
