Dear Deborah and colleagues,
Thank you for reminding us of the Global Health Media Project ebola animation to help inform local communities during ebola outbreaks: https://globalhealthmedia.org/video/the-story-of-ebola-english/
I watched this again and it moved me to tears. Most importantly, the animation conveys more information in 7 minutes than any other medium could convey in a much longer time.
I am also reminded of another discussion we are having this month on HIFA:'Comms should come from the brain not the heart'. This animation is a clear example whereby 'brain' and 'heart' are both needed at times. WHO's director-general Dr Tedros and his team are especially effective in balancing 'brain' and 'heart' in their communications, as demonstrated in his address to the people of DR Congo: https://www.hifa.org/dgroups-rss/comms-should-come-brain-not-heart-says-...
If you want to ensure that knowledge is understood and is retained, it is often important to use the heart as well as the brain.
On behalf of HIFA, our thanks to our partner the Global Health Media Project. HIFA now has 26 partners in addition to the World Health Organization with whom we are in official relations since 2022. We invite all organisations that share our vision to join us: www.hifa.org/partners
