David Gathara

David Gathara is a post-doctoral researcher with the Health Systems Research Department (HSRD) at KEMRI/Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP) Nairobi. His research work has spanned a range of disciplines including, clinical trials, evaluation of quality of care within hospitals and exploration of the application of various statistical methods (propensity score analysis, multi-level models and statistical process control) to routine data.  He is a member of the national M&E technical working group for the Ministry of Health where he supports the streamlining and harmonizing the data collection tools and indicators for periodic reporting and routine entry into DHIS2. His current research work focuses on the role nurses in the quality of care delivered in hospitals and how this might be measured in LMICs.
