Mercedes Rumi

Pan American Health Organization

Mercedes holds a medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires and an MSc in International Health from the University of Oxford, both earned with merit. She brings extensive international research experience across Argentina, Colombia, Kenya, and Vietnam. As the former Latin American Program Manager for The Global Health Network, Mercedes secured significant research funding from Wellcome Trust and IDRC, while leading partnerships with academic institutions, and healthcare providers to strengthen health research capacity in the region.

Currently, Mercedes is a graduate intern at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), working within the Unit of Science and Knowledge for Impact under the Department of Evidence and Intelligence for Action in Health (EIH/SK). Her work is driven by a passion for advancing health equity and improving healthcare access across the Americas. She focuses on knowledge sharing, fostering strategic partnerships, and promoting research that addresses the region’s most pressing health challenges.
