Peter Waiswa is a Medical Doctor and an Associate Professor and Researcher of Health Policy, Planning and Management with a special focus on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health at Makerere University School of Public Health, Uganda, as well as at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. He leads the InDepth network on Maternal Newborn and Child Health Research . He is also the founder and leader of the Centre of Excellence for Maternal Newborn and Child Health Research at Makerere University, Uganda Prof Waiswa worked for government health services at district level and for the Uganda Red Cross Society before joinng academia. While in Iganga he founded a local NGO that specialises in health care and well being for young people
