Dr Mwele Malecela: sad news

18 February, 2022

Colleagues that knew Dr Mwele Malecela from her role as Director of WHO’s Department of Control of NTDs and her previous role as the Director-General of the National Institute for Medical Research, United Republic of Tanzania will be sad to hear of her passing. Her death will particularly be felt by the lymphatic filariasis community; she was the founding Director of the Tanzania Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Programme.

A statement from TDR's Director, Dr John Reeder, can be read here: https://tdr.who.int/newsroom/news/item/14-02-2022-remembering-dr-mwele-m...

Best wishes

Julie
