Health and climate change: an editorial (3) Translation (2)

27 October, 2022

Great Dr Najeeb Al-Shorbaji, PhD, FIAHSI Independent Consultant in Knowledge Management and eHealth, for the timely word of advice.

Nonetheless, how can you expect a technical English > Swahili translation work for instance, to be done by a volunteer? Won't HIFA end up coming up with half-baked translation versions in multiple languages which may eventually misconstrue the intended message by the primary working article?

In my opinion, among other things which ought to be budgeted for by HIFA Secretariat, is requesting and raising funds for a budget for translation of important publications and correspondences annually with global impact to our esteemed stakeholders and target audiences especially in marginalized geographical areas due to communication breakdown driven most often by international languages barrier in such areas due to the majority of target audiences there being less proficient in foreign languages than their own mother tongues or national languages.

I strongly believe that if we do that consistently, we will have made a great contribution in spreading the word of mouth with lasting impact not only to a few people, but also to the voiceless.

Best regards Dr. and other HIFA well-wishers!
