[*Note from HIFA moderator (NPW): Welcome to the HIFA team Nyambura! HIFA does not carry attachments so I have cut and pasted the text below:

I am Purity Nyambura Gathama, currently working as a Research/Assistant Librarian at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Port Reitz Campus. I focus on providing reliable open-access electronic and print information resources to medical students and lecturers, teaching information literacy, and advocating for the ethical use of information. I also serve as the Campus Research Champion, the Research4Life Campus Administrator, and the KMTC Book Club Administrator, where we read and discuss books on professional development.

Driven by a passion for research, I have published articles, presented at scientific conferences, and authored research guides to support the academic community. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science at Kenyatta University, where my thesis focuses on continuous professional development for library and information science professionals in response to the evolving roles of librarians.

I have also volunteered as a HIFA catalyst for The Lancet Regional Health – Africa, an initiative that aims to highlight medical research in Africa, showcase work conducted across diverse disciplines, and raise the profile of science in Africa.

In 2023, I received a recognition certificate for exceptional performance as a member of the secretariat involved in developing the KMTC Strategic Plan 2023–2028.]
