Study on delivering difficult news

21 October, 2025

As a medical professional, you are invited to voluntarily participate in a research project titled “Interpersonal Communication” directed by Professor Rachel Ruttan of the Rotman School of Management.

As a participant, you will read about a hypothetical situation involving communicating bad news to a patient’s family, answer some questions about the situation, and finally answer questions about yourself. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete, and the first 110 participants to complete the survey will receive a $10 Amazon gift card.

Please note: If you are not within the first 100 participants, you will be notified on the first page of the survey.

The online survey can be found here: https://rotman.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bpzAqeYy7Ueot94

Thank you!
