Dear Fiona and Erica,
I have two book chapters published by this model. For the first, I received a copy of the actual hb book. For the second 'nothing'.
Yes the continuation of this model, is upsetting and frustrating.
In terms of action and a 'partial' boycott - as Erica points out - it is how you arrive at the how/where/what of the data.
Critically and quantitatively - what does 'partial boycott' mean in this context?
How would you know the number of participants to make the activism 'felt', if not merely heard?
How long a period would be needed - and its relation to participant numbers?
As I've probably highlighted before, it has been interesting to 'follow' the politics of healthcare, even as medicine, nursing ... limits itself to:
- medical model
- bio-medical model
- bio-psycho-social models.
With a post to follow on this (re. bringing your 'whole-self' to work - NHS?), of course in our clinical work we are apolitical.
But it seems this exploitative publishing model, gags and subverts any socialist - humanistic voices that would advocate for and utilize open publishing approaches.
Publishing is not cost-free of course, but the public's understanding of science is a further critical dimension also aligned to - sympathetic with HIFA's aims, goals and purposes?
Perhaps, with the required prompt set AI could help derive what the 'partial' should amount to?
As I close - noting your work Fiona, a search for 'drama' at the blog below may prove of interest. It would be great to connect?
Kind regards,
Peter Jones
