Comment (NPW): As some of us have said before on HIFA, combating misinformation alone is the wrong approach. A successful, sustainable strategy should focus instead on improving the availability and use of reliable healthcare inforamtion: ensuring that every person has access to the reliable healthcare information they need to protect their own health and the health of others. It is also vital to help people to differentiate between reliable information and misinformation. This is why the recent closure of Health On The Net Foundation, which kitemarked websites according to their editorial policies, was such a regrettable failure. Renewed focus is needed to address the issue.
