Coronavirus (1463) How are we doing for vaccine distribution?
Not very well, thank you. According to "Our World in Data" ( https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations ) today, "65.7% of the world population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. 11.75 billion doses have been administered globally, and 7.09 million are now administered each day. Only 15.9% of people in low-income countries have received at least one dose."

Coronavirus (1458) Which actionable statements qualify as good practice statements In Covid-19 guidelines?
'Good practice statements (GPS) (ie, actionable statements about interventions that would do substantially more good than harm or vice versa) do not qualify for rating the certainty of evidence, but are important statements in guidelines. The GRADE Working Group developed five criteria to assess the appropriateness of issuing a GPS.' The authors found that GPS for COVID-19 are 'characterised by unclear designation and development processes, and methodological weaknesses'. Citation and abstract below.

Dear HIFA and HIFA-Zambia colleagues, This paper concludes: 'A lack of resources, misinformation, myths and vaccine hesitancy posed challenges in the fight against COVID-19 in Zambia. There is a need for continuous public education and sensitization on COVID-19 and the importance of vaccinations.'

Reading the four key findings one still wonders what really hampers similar efforts for an HIV or other retroviral , viral, bacterial diseases in particular for those which are rampant in the poorer parts of the world. For some it is indeed more complex such as HIV but still the political and financial readiness we have never seen before applied to COVID-19 only. Or was it the potential very profitable market in the richer countries which played a role as well? I miss the sociologist or anthropological point of view. But indeed very illustrative Eric
